About the tour
This tour is about the Vietnam you won't see from your hotel window. Colorful, fun and unhurried — families with kids especially love it.
First up: a ride in round basket boats. They're woven from bamboo, and Vietnamese fishermen have gone to sea in them for centuries. The boat spins and bobs on the water like a basket come to life — kids are thrilled, and so are the grown-ups. Then comes a show by Vietnamese performers.
Lunch is at an open-air restaurant in a Vietnamese village. After that, it's off to the starfish beach: big starfish lie right in the shallows, like jewel brooches on azure water. You can see them up close and take photos none of your friends will have.

- 💡 Round thung chai basket boats are woven from bamboo and coated with resin to make them watertight.
- 💡 Legend has it these boats were invented when a tax was introduced on boats: fishermen called them "baskets" and didn't have to pay.

You can look at them and take photos, but don't take them out of the water: they die in the air. Your guide will show you how to get a great shot.
